### Highlights
Taking on seven peaks in a single day is no small task, but for those who love a challenge, this is an unforgettable hiking experience. Covering 22.5km of varied terrain, this route through the Northern Fells offers steep ascents, beautiful views, and a real sense of achievement. With a qualified mountain leader guiding the way, you'll navigate dramatic ridgelines, open moorland, and rocky paths while taking in some of the best scenery the Lake District has to offer. Key Details Distance : 22.5km (14 miles), 4,100ft ascent Duration : 7-9 hours Difficulty : Hard – for experienced hikers Peaks Included : Ullock Pike, Long Side, Carl Side, Skiddaw, Skiddaw Little Man, Lonscale Fell, Latrigg Start/Finish : Latrigg Car Park, Gale Road, CA12 4PH What to Expect This is a demanding yet rewarding route, perfect for experienced hikers who enjoy pushing their limits. The day begins at Latrigg Car Park, where you'll meet your guide and fellow walkers before setting off on the first ascent. The challenge starts straight away with a climb up Ullock Pike, a sharp ridge offering incredible views over Bassenthwaite Lake. From here, the trail follows the ridge to Long Side and Carl Side, gaining height gradually as the full scale of the surrounding fells comes into view. The next section is the toughest—ascending Skiddaw itself. Standing at 931m, it's the highest peak of the day and provides far-reaching views across the Lake District and, on a clear day, as far as Scotland. The climb is steep and requires steady effort, but reaching the summit is a moment worth savouring. After taking in the scenery, the route descends slightly before heading up to Skiddaw Little Man, a peak that offers a unique perspective of the main summit. The latter part of the hike involves a gradual descent towards Lonscale Fell, where the terrain becomes a mix of rocky paths and grassy sections. The final climb of the day is up Latrigg, a relatively gentle ascent compared to what’s already been tackled but still offers fantastic panoramic views over Keswick and Derwentwater. From here, it's a steady descent back to the car park to complete the full circuit. With a mix of steep climbs, technical terrain, and gorgeous scenery, this route demands good fitness and hiking experience. Your guide will be there to support you throughout, offering navigation, encouragement, and ensuring everyone completes the challenge safely. ## FAQs

### Can individuals attend alone?

Yes! The majority of participants join as solo hikers and adventurers. The experiences are designed to bring like-minded people together, creating a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Whether it’s a first-time outdoor activity or a new challenge, there’s no need to feel apprehensive—everyone is there to enjoy the experience.

### Is there an age limit?

There is no upper age limit, as long as participants are physically able to take part safely. Some challenge walks and day experiences do allow under-18s, but they must be accompanied at all times by a parent or guardian, as there is no AALA Licence held. For enquiries about under-18 participation, please get in touch via the adventuro chat below. They'll be happy to help!

### What happens if the weather is bad?

Weather conditions are closely monitored using mountain-specific forecasts. If dangerous conditions are predicted, updates will be provided by 4pm the day before the event, or as early as possible within 24 hours. As the Lake District’s weather can change rapidly, events will still proceed in rain. If conditions worsen on the day, the guide may adjust the route or, if necessary, cancel the event. In the case of cancellation, an alternative date will be offered.

### What level of fitness is required?

A basic level of fitness is needed to manage being on foot for over six hours across potentially uneven terrain. Many participants book a guide due to limited hillwalking experience, so there is no expectation to be highly hill-fit. Before taking part, a medical waiver must be completed to acknowledge the risks associated with outdoor activities.

### Are dogs allowed?

Dogs are permitted on some hikes, provided they are well-behaved and kept on a lead due to livestock in the area. For information on dog-friendly routes, please get in touch via the adventuro chat below.

### What kit do I need?

You'll need to bring some essential kit to ensure you're comfortable and prepared. Compulsory items include a waterproof jacket and trousers, walking boots with suitable socks, a rucksack, warm layers, a fleece or jumper, and a hat and gloves (waterproof ones are best). You'll also need to bring food, plenty of fluids, a mobile phone, and any personal medication. Recommended extras include walking poles, sun cream, midge spray, gaiters, and a sit mat for added comfort.

### How difficult is this hike?

This is a tough, full-day mountain challenge best suited to experienced hikers. The route covers 22.5km with 4,100ft of ascent, tackling steep climbs, rocky paths, and exposed ridgelines. It requires a good level of fitness and the ability to walk for 7-9 hours over varied terrain. If you’re comfortable with long-distance hikes and have experience on mountain trails, this is a great opportunity to push yourself.

### What time does the hike start and finish?

The group meets at 7am at Latrigg Car Park, Gale Road, CA12 4PH. After a safety briefing, we set off promptly. The estimated finish time is around 4pm, but this can vary depending on group pace and weather conditions. It’s always best to allow extra time in case of delays.
