## FAQs

### What times of the year are we likely to see puffins?

We see puffins at Puffin Island from March/April to August but in some years they arrive earlier and leave later.

### What time do trips run?

Generally, we run trips at 11am, 12.30pm, and 3.30pm each day.

### How big are the RIBs?

Our boats, The Beast and Discovery, can carry up to 12 passengers each and around 11m long.

### How big is the engine?

The Beast has twin Mercury V8 outboard engines that produce 500hp and Discovery has twin Mercury V8 300hp engines making her a whopping 600hp.

### What should I wear?

Warm and waterproof! It’s always colder out on the water and it can get very windy so we always advise bringing extra layers. Powerboat trips can, by nature, be wet. We advise you wear warm clothing, suitable footwear (trainers or lightweight walking boots) and a waterproof coat. You may wish to bring waterproof trousers and gloves/hat (particularly for winter trips). It can get very bright out on the water, so sunglasses are recommended. If it’s particularly sunny, suncream is advised. Optional Extras: Binoculars – we’ll do our best to get you as close as possible to the wildlife (without disturbing nesting birds), but you may wish to bring binoculars for a close-up view Camera – our trips take place in a truly stunning part of Anglesey and we will encounter lots of wildlife and scenic spots along the way so there will certainly be some incredible photo opportunities. You’re welcome to bring a camera along but you do so at your own risk Bags – there is limited space on the boat so you’re welcome to bring small bags but please don’t bring larger items with you Please note – if you are not appropriately dressed you may not be allowed on board due to your own safety.

### When is the best time to go on a trip?

The beauty of the Menai Strait is that it changes throughout the year. Each season brings something new to Anglesey’s spectacular coastline. If you want to see puffins, visit us between March and August for the best chance to spot some of these majestic little fellows.

### What safety measures are in place?

Our boats are powerful RIBs with the latest 300hp Mercury engines. Our boats are coded to category 4 by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, this means they meet strict safety requirements. Our skippers are fully qualified very experienced RYA Powerboat Instructors and have been navigating our local waters for many years. We supply life jackets.

### Is there parking?

Yes, there is a large car park just next to the pier which costs £7.50 for the day.
