Wrecks offer a rare combination of history, structure, and marine life, making them some of the most interesting environments to explore. This course develops the skills needed to navigate, survey, and investigate wreck sites safely while maintaining good buoyancy and situational awareness. Whether the wreck was intentionally sunk or lost unexpectedly, each dive offers new points of interest and the chance to refine disciplined techniques. Key Details 🧭 Course duration: 2 days Session duration: 4 hours Daily schedule: 08:30–13:30 Number of dives: 2 Maximum depth: Up to 30 metres Minimum age: 15 years Location: Fujairah/Dubai (site dependent) Key Skills ⚓ Wreck surveying and mapping External wreck navigation techniques Use of reels and lines Finning methods that minimise disturbance Recognising hazards specific to wreck environments Identifying structural features Planning safe wreck dives with a buddy What to Expect 🌊 Your training begins with PADI e-learning, which covers wreck history, penetration considerations, hazard recognition, and responsible diving practices. Once completed, your instructor will guide you through a detailed briefing that includes site orientation, entry points, safety zones, and depth limits. You’ll also review reel use, communication signals, and correct positioning around fragile structures. During the two dives, you will practise swimming around the exterior of the wreck while maintaining controlled buoyancy and avoiding contact with surfaces that may be unstable or sharp. Skills include laying and retrieving a guideline, marking reference points, and conducting a basic survey to identify features and possible navigation routes. Your instructor will demonstrate how silt, light, and confined areas impact visibility and movement so that you can adjust your techniques accordingly. Although this course focuses primarily on external exploration, you will learn the principles used for safe penetration and understand when and when not to enter a structure. By the end of the course, you’ll have the knowledge and discipline required to enjoy wrecks safely and responsibly. Location 📍 Training typically takes place in Fujairah, where several accessible wrecks sit within recreational depths and offer clear structures for surveying. These sites provide good visibility and defined features, allowing divers to practise mapping, line-handling, and buoyancy skills effectively. Occasional sessions may be held at Dubai wrecks depending on con…

## FAQs

### Do I need to bring my own equipment?

All required diving equipment is provided for courses. You’re welcome to bring personal kit if you prefer; any items you don’t have will be issued to you on arrival.

### What should I bring on the day?

Comfortable clothing, swimwear, a towel, sunscreen, and footwear that can get wet are recommended. Bringing an extra set of dry clothes makes the return journey more comfortable.

### Do you accept male and female students together?

Yes, mixed groups are standard. A female-only group can sometimes be arranged depending on instructor availability.

### Do I need to know how to swim?

Basic swimming skills are required for all diving activities, including introductory experiences. You should be able to stay afloat comfortably and feel confident in the water.

### What happens if the weather is unsuitable?

Safety always comes first. If sea conditions are not suitable for diving, the session will be rescheduled or refunded. Weather-related cancellations are made by the instructor or operations team.

### Can non-divers join the trip?

Non-divers can usually join boat trips for an additional fee and are welcome to snorkel, depending on the location.

### What if I want photographs or videos?

Underwater photos and videos can usually be arranged for an additional fee, which covers both still images and video clips.

### Will I enter the wreck during the course?

Training focuses primarily on external exploration, with an introduction to penetration principles. You’ll learn how to assess entry points and hazards, but full penetration is not required and may be limited by local conditions.

### What skills are practised using reels and lines?

You will learn how to lay a guideline, anchor it securely, and retrieve it without disturbing the environment. These skills build discipline and awareness, helping you maintain orientation around complex structures.

### How important is buoyancy control for wreck diving?

Precise buoyancy is essential to prevent contact with sharp edges, unstable surfaces, or silt-prone areas. The instructor will help refine your positioning and finning so you can move safely and efficiently.

### What types of wrecks might I see during training?

Training often takes place at wrecks in Fujairah, which include small vessels, older metal structures, and purpose-sunk sites. Your instructor selects the site based on conditions and suitability for training tasks.

### Can this speciality help me progress toward technical or penetration diving?

Yes. Wreck training introduces navigation, trim, assessment, and line-handling techniques used in more advanced courses. It provides a strong foundation for future technical or overhead-environment training.
