The first stage includes AquaMissions 1–5, focusing on core SCUBA skills such as breathing underwater, clearing a mask, recovering a regulator, and swimming while experiencing the sensation of weightlessness. Each session is approximately one hour, and completion earns the child recognition as a PADI Seal Team Member. These sessions also contribute towards future PADI Open Water Diver training once participants are old enough. The second stage offers 10 specialty AquaMissions, which expand the adventure into areas like creature identification, search and recovery diving, and skin diving. Completing this stage earns the child a PADI Master Seal Team Member status, placing them among a select group of young divers with advanced pool-based SCUBA experience. Each session builds skills while promoting responsibility, respect for the aquatic environment, and teamwork. ## FAQs

### Do children need to bring their own equipment?

No, all the SCUBA equipment needed for the AquaMissions is provided as part of the course. This includes masks, fins, snorkels, regulators, buoyancy jackets, and air cylinders, so there’s no need for families to purchase specialist gear in advance. Using centre-supplied kit ensures that everything fits properly and is safe for junior divers. That said, children are welcome to bring their own masks or fins if they already own them and feel comfortable using them. Instructors will check personal kit for suitability before use, and may recommend sticking to centre-provided equipment if it offers a better fit or added safety.

### Can parents/carers watch?

Parents are welcome to stay at the poolside and watch their child during the session if they wish. This can help younger divers feel more relaxed, especially at the start of the programme, knowing that a familiar face is nearby. Many parents enjoy seeing their children gaining confidence and progressing through the AquaMissions. However, it’s not required for parents to stay for the full session, as children are fully supervised at all times by qualified instructors. For those who prefer, it’s fine to drop off and collect at the end of the hour, leaving the young divers to focus entirely on their skills in the water.

### Do you get a certification from PADI?

You must complete Parts One and Two to be certified by PADI. Upon completion, they will be a certified PADI Seal Team Member. In the future, this can also contribute towards achieving their PADI Open Water Diver Certification.

### What happens if my child misses a session?

Life can sometimes get in the way, and if your child misses one of the AquaMissions, the instructors will do their best to help them catch up. Depending on availability, it may be possible to slot into another session or arrange a make-up lesson to ensure that no key skills are missed. If catching up immediately isn’t possible, the AquaMission can often be completed at a later stage so that children don’t miss out on recognition as a Master Seal Team Member. Parents are encouraged to communicate with the instructors as early as possible to discuss the best solution.

### Is the PADI Seal Team programme safe for children?

Yes, safety is the number one priority throughout the programme. All sessions take place in a controlled pool environment with qualified instructors who are trained to work with children. The equipment is properly maintained, and group sizes are kept small to ensure each diver receives close attention. Children are also taught the importance of safety rules and are encouraged to take responsibility for themselves and each other. By learning within these controlled settings, young divers gain both the skills and the confidence needed to progress to more advanced SCUBA training in the future.

### Will this programme count towards future PADI qualifications?

Absolutely. Completing Part Two of the Seal Team programme means your child will be recognised as a PADI Master Seal Team Member. Many of the skills gained can later be applied when moving on to the PADI Open Water Diver course once they reach the minimum age requirement. This gives them a head start compared to beginners. More importantly, the experience builds familiarity with equipment, underwater communication, and problem-solving. This foundation makes future training smoother and less overwhelming, as children will already have developed strong confidence in the water.
