## FAQs

### Will I fall in?

There’s always a chance you might! Paddleboarding is very stable, and we’ll give you all the tips you need to stay balanced, but falling in is part of the learning process. If you do fall, we’ll teach you how to safely get back on your board. Our sessions take place close to shore, and we can stay in shallow water if you’re nervous about deeper areas.

### What should I wear for the lesson?

We provide wetsuits and buoyancy aids, which must be worn during the session unless agreed otherwise in exceptional circumstances. You should bring a pair of trainers, sliders, or water shoes that you don’t mind getting wet, as we’ll be walking into the loch. In colder weather, an extra layer like a thermal top or a rash vest under your wetsuit can help keep you warm. Please wear swimwear under your wetsuit.

### Do I need any prior experience?

No experience is required! Our lessons are designed for complete beginners as well as those looking to improve their skills. We’ll start with the basics, including how to stand up, paddle effectively, and stay safe on the water. If you’ve paddled before, we can focus on refining your technique and teaching new skills.

### Can children take part in the lesson?

Yes, children aged 8 and over can join our public lessons. For family sessions, we may be able to take younger children—please contact us to discuss this. Our kids' lessons focus on fun, with plenty of games and challenges to keep them engaged. If your child is nervous, they can be towed on their board or sit with an instructor for extra reassurance.

### What if I’m not a strong swimmer?

You don’t need to be a strong swimmer, but you should be comfortable in the water. If you aren't comfortable in the water, please let us know in advance. Our lessons take place near the shore, and we can stay in shallow areas if needed. Everyone wears a buoyancy aid, so you’ll always have support if you end up in the water. If you have concerns, let us know in advance, and we’ll make sure you feel safe and confident during the session.

### Are there changing rooms or toilets at Loch Brora?

No, Loch Brora is a natural and unspoiled location, and there are no facilities on-site. We recommend arriving in your swimwear under your clothes to make changing easier. If you need to use the toilet before or after the session, the nearest facilities are in Brora village.
