The White Water Kayak Leader Assessment is a practical evaluation of your skills and knowledge:

  • Duration: The assessment typically lasts for one full day (8 hours), depending on course ratios and logistics.

Location

We cover various locations in the UK for our courses.

Most of our kayaking courses take place on the River Dart in Dartmoor – meeting point TQ13 7NT.

We also run courses at:

  • Lee Valley White Water Centre (EN9 1AB)
  • The National White Water Centre (LL23 7NU)
  • Holme Pierrepont White Water (LL23 7NU)

We also travel to individuals and clubs to run training and assessments, covering most of England, up to Nottingham and Wales.

Prerequisites

To participate in the BCAB White Water Kayak Leader Assessment, you must meet the following prerequisites:

  • White Water Kayak Leader Training: Completed within the last 3 years.
  • White Water Safety & Rescue Training: Alternatively, the Rescue 3 Whitewater Rescue Technician course.
  • Leadership Registration: Home Nation Leadership Registration (LR) Form.
  • Full Home Nation Association Membership.
  • Valid 2-day First Aid training.
  • Minimum of 18 years old.

Flexible

  • You can cancel until 48 hours before your booking for a full refund.
  • If you cancel after that, you’ll pay 50% up to 24 hours beforehand and the full amount after 24 hours.
  • Where applicable, deposit payments are non-refundable.

Moderate

  • You can cancel until 5 days before your booking for a full refund.
  • If you cancel after that, you’ll pay 50% up to 48 hours beforehand and the full amount after 48 hours.
  • Where applicable, deposit payments are non-refundable.

Firm

  • To receive a full refund, you must cancel at least 14 days before their booking.
  • If you cancel between 7 and 14 days before your booking, you’ll pay 50% of the cost.
  • If you cancel less than 7 days before the booking starts, you’ll pay the full amount.
  • Where applicable, deposit payments are non-refundable.

Strict

  • To receive a full refund, you must cancel at least 30 days before your booking.

Cancellations made more than 14 days before the course start date will receive a full refund, minus any non-refundable deposit, if applicable.

Cancellations made within 7-14 days of the course start date will be eligible for a 50% refund.

Cancellations made less than 7 days before the course start date will not be eligible for refunds.
