All of our canoes have two fixed seats with an optional clip-in seat for a third person. Some of our larger family canoes can accommodate 2 adults and up to 2 smaller children, but it’s best not to overload the boat. ### I have a young family – can we all go canoeing? This is one of our most commonly asked questions and can be quite challenging to answer as we follow strict ratios based on the following age groups: Ages 4 to 11 - one adult per child Ages 12 to 17 - two children per adult Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate children under the age of 4. If your children are under 12 years old, we require one adult per child. ### Is transport included/How do I get back to my car at the end? All of our trips include transport to and/or from your start/finishing point. Details about your specific trip will be given closer to the time. ### What should we wear? Wear loose and lightweight clothing, trainers, aqua boots or full sandals. Dress according to the unpredictable British weather, preferably with layers that can be added or removed. Avoid wellington boots, flip flops, or jeans, and anything you're not prepared to get splashed. Wear waterproof and windproof layers as the sun can be strong but the wind can be cold, especially in spring/autumn. ### What should we bring with us? Stay hydrated with plenty of fluids and snacks, and remember to bring high-factor sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. Bring a top for warmth and dryness, and a full change of clothes just in case. We provide waterproof storage barrels, so pack light and bring only what you need for clothing and food. ### Will we have mobile phone coverage? Mobile phone and data coverage on the river may be weak, but you could find some signal along the way, especially at hotspots such as Hereford and Ross-On-Wye. We advise you bring your phone to capture memories of your trip and as a safety measure just in case. However, we also advise that you take the chance to unwind and disconnect from the outside world. Ignore those notifications and enjoy the peaceful river environment. ### Can we bring alcohol with us? For your safety, we operate a zero-tolerance to alcohol on the river. Anyone found under the influence of alcohol or any other substances will not be permitted to hire or participate. We do not allow alcohol to be taken on your trip and reserve the right to confiscate it until your return. If you’d like to enjoy a drink, please do so responsibly once your canoe adventure is complete – you may well find us in the pub when we’re done for the day too! ### Can we free camp on the river banks? Except for the occasional public canoe launch, all the river banks are privately owned, so free camping is strictly forbidden. Besides, there are plenty of cool campsites strategically located down the river for you to stay at safely and legally. ### Can we canoe in bad weather? We rarely cancel a trip if it’s raining so make sure you bring the right kit to stay warm and dry. Once you’re out on the river, you won’t even notice! However, your safety is paramount to us and in extreme weather conditions or if the river levels are unsuitably high, sadly we won’t be able to operate and will contact you in the hope we can get you out on the river again as soon as possible. ### Can we bring our dog? Smaller and well-behaved dogs are welcome to join us for canoeing and we greet hundreds of canine friends every year. The impact of larger dogs moving their weight around randomly in the canoe, makes it unstable and increases the risk of capsize. Similarly, more active or excitable dogs that tend to move around or jump out to swim also cause instability. At the end of the day the decision to bring your dog depends on your judgement. You are the folk that will spend time in the canoe with them.... We do not provide buoyancy aids for dogs as we have yet to encounter a dog that cannot swim. We request that you do not tie your dog to the canoe, as it may cause entanglement in the unlikely event of a capsize. ### When are the trips?
