### Highlights
Independent kitesurfers can make the most of the conditions at Wallasey Beach with our full kit hire service. Available to certified riders, this option is ideal if you’re confident in your ability and want to spend time on the water using high-quality, well-maintained equipment. All hires are subject to a short safety check and must be booked around tide times. Key Details Location: Wallasey Beach, Wirral Group size: 1–2 people Session length: Based on tide times Certification required: BKSA or IKO Level 2 What to Expect Before going on the water, you will complete a 10-minute safety and ability assessment to ensure you meet the required skill level. This includes demonstrating control over riding speed by edging, consistent riding in all directions including upwind, and the ability to change direction without stopping. You’ll also need to show competence in launching and landing the kite safely, body dragging in both directions, self-rescue techniques, and packing down equipment in the water. Once you pass the assessment, you will receive a full kit tailored to the current conditions. Rental times depend on tide schedules, so your session will be booked accordingly to ensure safety and space on the beach. If you do not meet the necessary skills during assessment, a private lesson with a qualified instructor will be recommended before hiring. Location Wallasey Beach on the Wirral Peninsula offers open water, consistent winds and long sandy stretches that are ideal for kitesurfing—outside of high tide periods. The beach is known for its shallow waters at mid to low tide, which provide a safer and more manageable environment for launching, landing and riding. It’s essential to book around the tide, as space and safety become restricted during high tide conditions. Prerequisites To rent equipment, you must hold either a BKSA or IKO Level 2 certification or demonstrate equivalent skill and experience. A short on-site assessment will be carried out to confirm competence before any hire is approved. If you are unable to meet the assessment criteria, a private lesson will be required before proceeding. You’ll also need your own third-party liability cover, available through BKSA membership. Please bring recognised ID and a bank card at the time of hire. Equipment lost or damaged must be paid for at 70% of the retail price. Why Choose Us This centre prioritises safe, hassle-free access to quality kitesurfing equipment for riders who already know their way around…

## FAQs

### What are the prerequisites?

You must be competent rider which means I can: Control riding speed by edging Consistent riding in all directions including upwind Ride amongst other riders and water users and respect right of way rules Change of direction without stopping Self rescue and full pack down in the water Launch and land Body drag in both directions and be able to recover board in deep water If you do not meet the full criteria, we advise you to take a lesson with our qualified BKSA instructors. We have the right to decline any rental.

### What is the rental agreement?

I agree to the following: Return it as you found it (rolled up and packed away), and on time to avoid late return fee Inspect equipment before use and report any damages Hold BKSA 3rd party insurance or equivalent Leave an ID card and car keys during the rental period “BREAK IT BUY IT POLICY” - ANY DAMAGE INCURRED BY THE RENTEE MUST BE REPORTED, WHO WILL ASSESS WHETHER IT CAN BE REPAIRED. REPAIR FEES IS UP TO THE DISCRETION OF US. IF THE DAMAGE (OR LOSS) IS BEYOND REPAIR. YOU MUST BUY THE ITEM AT 70% OF THE RRP.

### Is third-party insurance required for equipment hire?

Yes, it is essential to have your own third-party liability insurance before hiring. This is usually obtained through an annual BKSA membership, which covers up to £5 million in liability for any damage or injury caused to others while kitesurfing. This insurance is a mandatory requirement for hiring the equipment and helps protect both you and others on the water.

### How does the equipment rental booking work with tide times?

Rental sessions are strictly arranged around tide schedules because Wallasey Beach has limited space at high tide, which can affect safety and kite launching areas. You will need to check availability via the online booking system, which shows times according to tides. It is important to book in advance to secure a suitable slot during mid to low tide when conditions are safer and more spacious for kitesurfing.

### What should I bring on the day of my kit rental?

You must bring a recognised form of ID and a valid bank card for the rental process. The ID is required to verify your identity, and the bank card is used to cover any potential damage or loss fees. You should also bring appropriate clothing and a wetsuit if you expect colder water or air temperatures, plus your third-party insurance details to confirm your coverage for the session.
