## FAQs

### Do I need open water swimming experience?

No. Pool swimming experience is a benefit but not a prerequisite. Please note, this is not a learn-to-swim lesson.

### Do I have to wear a wetsuit?

No. Wetsuits are not mandatory unless otherwise specified for a particular session. Participants are encouraged to bring and wear the equipment they feel most comfortable swimming in, provided it is suitable for the conditions.

### Is a tow float required?

Not always. Requirements vary depending on the location, group size, and conditions on the day. Where additional visibility is needed, participants may be asked to use a tow float for safety reasons. For Intro to Open Water, participants may be encouraged to use a tow float for extra support.

### Are the sessions suitable for triathletes?

Yes. However, for training sessions and stroke development, see our coached sessions and 1:1s which focus on training, open water skills, and efficient swimming technique.

### What if I'm nervous about swimming outdoors?

These sessions provide a safe social environment for those who are nervous or may need some encouragement to swim in open water. Many people attend specifically because they want to feel more comfortable in open water. We are qualified RLSS water rescuers and first aiders, and we know how to create environments to enjoy open water safely. You can also book a private 1:1 if you prefer a session more tailored towards your needs.

### Can I book a private session?

Yes. Private 1:1 and 1:2 coaching sessions are available and can be tailored entirely to your individual goals. This allows more focused coaching and flexibility around locations and your objectives.

### What equipment should I bring?

You should bring suitable swimwear, a towel, warm clothing for after the session, and any swimming equipment you normally use. Also bring a mug for hot drinks afterwards. Additional information about the recommended kit will be provided before your session.
