You'll meet us at Watergate Bay, about a minute from our HQ in Newquay Bay Resort and around 10 minutes from Newquay town centre. That's where we kit you out and walk you down to the sand. If conditions mean we need to move the lesson, we'll give you plenty of notice so you can get there without a rush and still have time to change. ### What time should participants arrive? Please arrive 30 minutes before your lesson so we have time to check you in and get you into a wetsuit. That buffer also gives us a chance to talk through what you want to work on before you walk to the beach. On weekends, school holidays and sunny days, give yourself extra time for traffic and parking around the bay. The closest car parks fill quickly when the weather is good. ### Is parking available at Watergate Bay? We sit on The Green, opposite Wax Beach Bar and next to the council car park. Just Park Wallet can sometimes save you a little on the council spaces if you book ahead. There's more parking opposite Watergate Bay Hotel and on the southern cliff overlooking the bay if the closest car park is full. Allow a short walk down to the beach from those overflow spots. ### What should participants wear and bring? Arrive in swimwear with slip-on shoes so changing into a wetsuit is quick. We provide the wetsuit and board, and boots in the cooler months, so you do not need to bring your own kit unless you prefer to. Bring sun cream, water, a towel and a change of clothes for afterwards. If you want a shower after the session, bring some change for the machines on the beach. ### Is there storage for belongings? We can look after your car keys while you surf, which is usually the simplest way to keep the vehicle locked. There is not a locker room for bags or valuables at the beach base. Leave other belongings locked in your vehicle before you come down to the sand. Wet kit and a towel are easier to manage if you keep the rest of your day bag in the car. ### Do lessons go ahead in the rain? We surf in the rain. A wet day often means better waves, and you'll be in a wetsuit anyway, so a shower rarely spoils the session. We only cancel if the beach is red-flagged or we decide conditions aren't safe. If that happens, we'll reschedule you or refund the lesson so you are not left without a plan. ### Can participants bring their own wetsuits and boards? You're welcome to wear your own wetsuit, though we may still suggest one of ours depending on how thick it is and how cold the water feels. Our suits are chosen for the lesson and the time of year.
