### What times and dates are available?

The Broad is open throughout the year and is free to enter, with rangers present 10am-7pm daily throughout the summer season (April-October). We offer canoe hire during the summer season - April-October - between these hours.

### What should I wear?

We recommend quick-drying fabrics and comfortable clothes. Slip into water shoes or grippy sandals, throw on a lightweight long-sleeve for sun protection, and don't forget sunscreen. Bring along a hat, UV-protected sunglasses, and a change of clothes just in case. Stay comfy and enjoy your paddle!

### How many people can fit in the canoes?

Our canoes can fit up to 3 adults or alternatively 2 adults and 2 small children (of primary school age).

### Is there an age limit?

There must be at least one adult (18+) present in the hire group.

### Do I need prior experience?

We will give you a full safety briefing before you get going and any instruction that you need, so anyone is welcome! Just be confident in the water and be able to swim.

### Where can we go and what might we see?

Canoeing around Salhouse Broad offers a myriad of picturesque routes and experiences. You can gently paddle through The Wherry Cut, a serene enclave perfect for wildlife watching and nature immersion. For those wanting to step out and stretch their legs, the Hoveton Great Broad Nature Trail awaits. Those with a thirst for a longer voyage might venture towards the towns of Horning or Wroxham, and if you're on a 6-hour hire, even the distant beauty of Ranworth is within reach. As you meander through these waterways, you're treated to the Salhouse Spit Restoration's innovative efforts and the diverse habitats Salhouse Broad showcases: from mature dry woodlands and wet alder carrs to glistening open fens. The Broad's unique history, rooted not in peat but in gravel excavation, lends to its distinct charm. As you paddle, the rippling waters might unveil glimpses of vibrant birds, darting fish, and maybe even the elusive swallowtail butterfly.

### What if it's raining on the day?

What better way to spend a wet day than on the water?! Unfortunately, we don't offer refunds for rainy days, and we do provide dry bags to protect your valuables. That being said, if conditions are unsafe, then we will do our best to reschedule your session or offer you a refund.
