## FAQs

### Can I choose a different meeting point?

Yes, we can discuss and arrange a suitable meeting point after booking. However, the usual meeting point is at Cairngorm Mountain, Aviemore, PH22 1RB.

### What will the hike be like in terms of difficulty?

The difficulty of the hike will vary depending on your fitness level and the chosen route. Some routes are more accessible and suitable for beginners, while others may be more challenging with steeper climbs or snowier terrain. Your guide will tailor the hike to suit your experience and goals, ensuring you’re both challenged and safe.

### Do I need prior winter hiking experience?

No prior experience is necessary for this activity. The guide will provide all the necessary instruction and equipment to ensure you can safely enjoy the hike. However, a good general fitness level and some previous hiking experience can make the experience more enjoyable.

### What equipment do I need to bring with me?

You will need to bring your own crampons and stiff-soled boots, as these are not included in the package. Matt can arrange for this to be hired from local outdoor stores. It’s also important to wear appropriate clothing for winter hiking, such as moisture-wicking layers, waterproof outer layers, and a warm hat and gloves. A full packing list will be provided upon booking.

### How long will the hike last?

The hike typically lasts for 5-7 hours, depending on the route and weather conditions. The day will include breaks for rest, food, and reflection, as well as time to practise winter skills such as using your ice axe and crampons.

### What happens if the weather is too harsh for hiking?

Safety is our top priority. If the weather conditions are too dangerous for hiking, the guide will assess the situation and, if necessary, adjust the route or itinerary. If conditions prevent the hike entirely you can be rescheduled for a different day.
