Activity Highlights:

Our beginner’s course for mountain biking is all about equipping you with the skills and knowledge you need to ride with confidence, control, and efficiency. We cover a variety of critical skills such as handling various terrains, understanding optimal body positioning, mastering effective braking, and executing seamless corners. Perfect for those new to mountain biking or individuals returning after a hiatus, our course provides the fundamental framework you need to confidently enjoy trail riding. You’ll gain strong foundations to further hone and develop your biking prowess. Our coaching approach is personalised, with each session conducted on a 1:1 basis to offer you the maximum potential to improve. We pride ourselves on creating a relaxed, encouraging learning environment where you’re free to progress at your own pace.

Course Location and Timing

Our beginner coaching sessions primarily take place at the serene Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Hampshire, but we can arrange other venues upon request.

What Will You Learn?

Over the 90-minute session, you’ll receive hands-on guidance from an experienced coach, helping you understand and practice core mountain biking skills. Here’s what to expect:
  • Bike Setup Check: We’ll ensure your bike is set up properly for maximum safety and efficiency.
  • Body Position: Understanding the physics behind riding modern mountain bikes well for smoother, more controlled rides.
  • Balance: Learn how correct balance, posture, and movement can significantly improve your riding consistency.
  • Cornering Foundations: We’ll teach you how to maintain traction, conserve speed, and choose the best lines in and out of turns.
  • Effective Braking: Master safe and efficient braking techniques.
  • Pedalling Consistency: Learn how to pedal consistently for better overall performance.
Our ultimate goal? Equip you with the techniques necessary for smooth, confident riding on blue to red-graded mountain bike trails in the UK.

Who Is This Suited To?

This course is tailor-made for individuals who:
  • Can confidently ride a bike without stabilisers and can start and stop in a controlled manner
  • Are relatively new to mountain biking or haven’t been riding off-road regularly for more than a year
  • Have perhaps tried green, blue, or even red-graded singletrack trails before at a trail centre
  • Are comfortable riding on towpaths, forest roads, and easy bridleways
  • Are aged 18 and over.

Our beginner’s course focuses on fundamental skills such as handling various terrains, effective braking, cornering, body positioning, balance, and pedalling consistency. We aim to equip you with the basics needed for confident, safe trail riding.
We offer one-to-one coaching sessions to provide the best opportunity for skill improvement. The learning environment is relaxed and encouraging, and we welcome riders to progress at their own pace.
The coaching sessions primarily take place at Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Hampshire. However, other venues can be arranged upon request.

How it works: 

  1. Make a booking.
  2. The centre will accept your booking, usually within an hour or two.
  3. Pay for the booking to confirm it.

  • You can cancel until 48 hours before your booking for a full refund
  • If you cancel after that, you’ll pay 50% up to 24 hours beforehand and the full amount after 24 hours 

Moderate

  • You can cancel until 5 days before your booking for a full refund
  • If you cancel after that, you’ll pay 50% up to 48 hours beforehand and the full amount after 48 hours 

Firm

  • To receive a full refund, you must cancel at least 14 days before their booking
  • If you cancel between 7 and 14 days before your booking, you’ll pay 50% of the cost
  • If you cancel less than 7 days before the booking starts, you’ll pay the full amount

Strict

  • To receive a full refund, you must cancel at least 30 days before your booking
  • If you cancel between 7 and 30 days before your booking, you’ll pay 50% of the cost
  • If you cancel less than 7 days before the booking starts, you’ll pay the full amount
  • You can also receive a full refund if you cancel within 48 hours of paying, if the cancellation occurs at least 14 days before the booking starts
